WHAT TO DO IN PERUGIA
“I should perhaps do the reader a service by telling him just how a week at Perugia may be spent. His first care must be to ignore the very dream of haste, walking everywhere very slowly and very much at random, and to impute an esoteric sense to almost anything his eye may happen to encounter.” Henry James – Transatlantic Sketches (Boston, 1875)
Are you visiting Perugia just for one day? Henry James’s advice is still valid.
Don’t ask what to see in Perugia, ignore the very dream of haste, just walk and you’ll see…
Perugia is a slow town, made of little alleys, rises and slopes, stunning panoramas. Just stop and have a look. Stop and fall in love with it.
Our Hotel is just ten minutes’ far from Perugia. You can reach it easily by bus. Ask for the complete timetable.
Moving in the city is easy: you can use Mini-metro, a special shuttle connecting all the main interesting sites of the town.
Fall is the best period of the year to visit Perugia. The climate is mild and the town becomes a romantic and colorful place.
Visit the main event of the season: Eurochocolate! An international event for chocolate lovers and tourists.
While wandering through Perugia don’t miss a visit to:
- Palazzo dei Priori. It is the city hall building, hosting Umbrian National Gallery as well.
- Stop and try a delicious and creamy Italian ice-cream. There’s one ice-cream parlor nearby, on the steps in front of the Cathedral and the Fontana Maggiore, the symbol of Perugia. Go up the stairs and have a look at Sala dei Notari , a wonderful hall, where people from all over Italy use to celebrate their wedding.
- The Rocca Paolina, an underground ancient fortress. Escalators now run through its massive walls, leading you straightaway in the city center. (Escalator opens at 6.15 A.M. and close at 2.00 A.M.)
- Enjoy the stunning panoramic view of the valley from the Carducci Grardens.
